* We are partnered with engineering firms that are licensed in all 50 states and Washington DC.
We have partnered with an excellent team of licensed engineers who know the ins and outs of our drafting style and are cost efficient.
One of the key areas we focus on is using as little steel as possible if it is required. Using any form of bar-stock is an absolute last resort. We are happy to meet with your vendor, customer, and have a meeting directly with you if needed.
We offer a significant discount on our shop drawings if we handle the engineering of them as well. Licensed in all 50 states and Washington D.C.
This includes us taking care of all engineering redlines at no additional cost. If we did not do the shop drawings, a CAD file will be required, and an revision fee is charged.
Once you release us to engineer a set of shops, you do not have to worry about them again until you have an engineering package in hand, saving you time. Typical lead times on engineering run 2-3 weeks.

Probably the most important item this service covers is training. Teaching and bringing in new talent to the industry, as well as strengthening the network is the entire reason SGS was born. These concepts are completely invaluable in today’s world. Every single company we talk to has the same issue: they cannot find people with solid skillsets. We are able to help guide, train, and shadow your in-hour PM or estimator.
Reviewing projects with architects, insurance claims reviews, and assistance with design are all time consuming processes we have had very successful results.
Planning, communication, and teamwork are the keys to successful projects. We want to team up with your estimators and project managers to deliver more successful projects.
Let us review the project for you. It gives you the assurance that you can proceed with a project that has had multiple people who have reviewed the scope.
Your Project Managers play the heaviest role in your contract. We will provide a team that will consult with them, assist them, be involved in meetings, and help them plan the project out strategically. The goal is to drive the project, not allowing the project drive you. With proper planning and team work, you can avoid delays that could cost you later on.
We are also able to help you with the design of your system. Things like complete design builds, figuring out fasteners and anchor points, and custom made parts that will aid in the install and engineering of your project.
* We provide a monthly retainer option that can save you money on our services.
Our goal in working with your team is to keep things as simple as possible. By having a monthly retainer in place, we can collectively spend less time reviewing proposals and billing, spending more time getting things done. Time is essential and if used wisely, you can be help you be productive and save money at the same time.
Any hourly services, (EST-T/O, PM, MTO, & CNS), are covered under a monthly retainer. Only hours used are invoiced to bring the retainer back to the original retained hours. This reserves hours dedicated to your company’s project at a significantly discounted hourly rate.
Includes:
Estimating Take-offs (EST-T/O): This will include estimate takeoffs by SGS that will produce Estimating Notes, highlighted Architectural drawings detailing scope, highlighted Specifications, and other breakdown documents as required. Requests for Quote (RFQs) can also be put together for your submission to the appropriate vendor.
Project Management (PM): This will include assisting in needs to run a project, such as putting together product submittal packages. If your company decides to set SGS up with an email address with your domain, SGS will send all emails relating to that project through that email with an updated signature block representing your company. All necessary parties will be copied on that email.
Material Takeoff (MTO): This will include metal and glass takeoffs for either estimating (RFQs) or orders (POs).
Consulting Services (CNS): This will include the needs discussed and agreed to, but remains very flexible.
DOES NOT INCLUDE shop drawings or engineering.
Here is how the retainer works. The retainer itself operates much like an attorney’s retainer, which actually simplifies things for accounting. The beauty of this is you are getting man-hours billed against it by a team of people, not just one person and it’s an affordable way to hire multiple people without the overhead and big salaries.
- You pay your retainer for a minimum of 70 hours (we will determine if you need more than that once needs are reviewed).
- Each following month, you will only be billed for the hours used the prior month (shown in your review), bringing the retainer balance back up to the original retained hours.
- Any excess of those hours will be billed at the retainer rate.
- Any weekend work (yes that does tend to happen on occasion) is billed at 1.5x hour.
- Any holiday work (rare, but does happen if there is a very tight deadline) is billed at 2x hour.
- All retainer payments are billed on the 1st and due by the 7th of the month. If payment is not received, the hours are billed at our regular hourly rate, cancelling the retainer contract.
- The retainer is month to month and you may cancel the it at any time.
- The only stipulation is has be while active work is in progress, at least 2 weeks before the 1st of the next month. This tremendously helps with our scheduling. As long as this is honored, we will refund any retainer balance within 30 days.
- You are given a login to our PM software, where you can see what jobs you have on our schedule, as well as the time logged on each job.
- You will receive a client sharefile where all deliverables will be. We have OneDrive and Dropbox, so you may pick which is more convenient for you.
- When you are billed, you will receive two reviews: “Retainer Balance” and “Project Time Report”.
Some final thoughts (typically pertains to PM work):
- If we ever talk to vendors or clients, we represent only your company, not SGS.
- You are welcome to provide an email address with your company domain that we will add to Outlook.
- Dave is the main contact. While others will be working on your projects, they are usually silent players in the equation. Dave will handle all the emailing and phone calls.
- While we can manage COs & POs, we cannot legally implement them for you since we are not officers of your company.
- If you have templates of documents you produce, you are more than welcome to share those with us and we will use them only on your projects.
Lastly, confidentiality and privacy are of the utmost importance to us. Any information, documents, etc. are strictly kept between your company and SGS unless permission is otherwise given.
